    HLT41115 - Certificate IV in Health Care

    This course is delivered by NPT Heart’s qualified Trainers and Clinical Instructors as a ‘hands on’ program, delivered at the training offices of National Patient Transport Pty Ltd, the leader of NEPT services within Victoria. This provides students with a unique opportunity to train and operate within a real life workplace setting.

    The course has been designed as a mixed mode delivery program which includes a combination of e-learning, pre-reading workbooks and assessments coupled with face to face practical sessions. Due to the practical nature of the classroom based sessions, students should enrol as soon as possible to provide sufficient time to complete the mandatory pre-reading and assessment tasks.

    The face-to-face training includes 20 days with 4 blocks of 5 x 8 hour class room sessions. The blocks may be undertaken consecutively or undertaken in 4 separate blocks based on the individual’s availability. Following the completion of the face-to-face training sessions, student are required to complete 80 hours of work placements. These will undertaking by working alongside crews working in real life situations. Students will be required to undertake these hours by attending 8 x 10 hour shifts. The timeframe for the completion of these work placements will be dependant on both the student’s availability and the availability of Clinical Instructors.

    In addition to the 20 days of face-to-face training and 80 hours of work placements, students will require to complete their e-learning, pre-reading and assessments. It is estimated that this will require a further 12-16 weeks to complete however students may be able to complete in a shorter time based on the students prior knowledge and experience. This work must be undertaken prior to attendance at the face-to-face classroom sessions. Students will have up to 12 months to complete this course.

    As some of the course material and assessments will be accessed through an e-learning package, students must have access to a reliable computer with MS Office or MAC equivalent, printer, internet access. Subject fees do not include computers, printers, software and/or internet access.

    The face-to-face component of the course is conducted over 4 blocks of 5 days which are held over consecutive weeks i.e. 20 days of face to face training and assessment. Participants have the option to either enrol in the 4 consecutive blocks or enrol in individual blocks of 1 week over a longer period of time.
